The meeting was called to order at 9AM by President Margie Whiddon. Introductions were made, visitors and new members were welcomed.

Today's Program was presented by Cathy Van Benthysen, “What to do with your Collections: A pictorial Directory of her Doll Collection using Scrapbook Factory”

Cathy has a personal collection of 580 dolls, dating back to 1901. She has taken a photo of each doll and written a history/description for each one. She has researched and included as much information as she can for each piece. Each doll is coded using numbers, letters and abbreviations to show who purchased the doll, where it came from, the original owner, etc. In addition to the photo record, she also keeps a written catalog, assigning the codes as she catalogs. When photographing, Cathy used rulers to establish size and added the descriptions in a text book under the photo. Her master catalog/index is done using Excel. Her categories/columns are: pictorial page #,description, Doll #, country of origin, price, who from.

Sharing:

Suzie: Using the base of a Febreze Air Freshener (battery operated), she made a rectangular screen, using vellum paper. When mounted on the base, the flickering light makes a beautiful “candle”. She created her designs in Scrapbook Factory and printed on Vellum using the vellum setting, or fast draft setting. She recommends using the thick vellum sold at JoAnn's. A hint for feeding the vellum into the printer, put a piece of printer paper behind in order to give more “body” to the paper. She used vellum tape for

attaching the edges of the rectangle together. The top and bottom edges were trimmed with stick-on rhinestone tape.

Linda Manson: Linda shared notebooks with examples for fonts from a variety ofwebsites. She will be doing presentations in February, explaining how to find, downloadand use on-line fonts.

Bev: Bev made a 2011 calendar and took it to Lisa to have it printed and bound: $27.00for 3 copies. She found that you cannot print pdf files from SBF for the Calendar

Application. Lisa worked from jpeg files, using the highest resolution in SBF (300).
